do you still dissemble as not to encounter the pressure from the extractor?

I want to eliminate anything that can interfere with a true measurement against the bolt face. With the operating slide removed it's easy to move the bolt to an in-battery position. With the proper tools one should be able to disassemble, measure and reassemble a carbine in less than 10 minutes. Well worth the time.
** I have also measured headspace using the method of inserting the Clymer gauge to engage the extractor and moving the bolt forward by hand (no operating slide)...It would be a more expedient means of testing a larger quantity of carbines.
