What is it?

My SG Bavarian carbine stock is a high wood - I cut with the last 4 digits of the serial number stamped in the sling well. No other markings are visible other than Rockola under the hand guard. In reponse to my original posting someone suggested that the wood was walnut as all I cuts were walnut. The wood seems more to me like oak than walnut but then I am not a wood expert .



The stock on my Garand looks like walnut to me.



Any thoughts?
