The M1917 Enfield

** ORDERS NOT ACCEPTED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2008**

The M1917 Enfield, "P17 Enfield", "American Enfield", formally named "United States Rifle, cal .30, Model of 1917" was an American modification and production of the British .303 caliber P14 rifle developed and manufactured during the period 1917-1918

When the British Empire entered World War I, it had an urgent need for rifles and contracts were placed with companies in the United States. In the case of the P14 rifle, Winchester and Remington were selected. When the U.S. entered the war, it had a similar extreme need for rifles. Rather than re-tool completely, the factories, under the close supervision of the US Army Ordnance Department, altered the design for caliber .30-06. Winchester produced the rifle at their New Haven, Connecticut plant and Remington at their main facility at Ilion, New York and at another plant in Eddystone, Pennsylvania.

* The CMP has recently acquired several hundred M1917 Enfield rifles. Inspection and grading will be complete in a few months and these rifles will be offered for sale beginning 2 September 2008. All of these rifles had been on loan from the U.S. Army to chartered veterans' organizations for use in honor guards, funerals, and other ceremonial purposes. All are mix-masters and none are in original configuration.

We will have a few 1917s manufactured by Winchester and Remington, but most are Eddystone. Orders will be filled by manufacturer on a first come - first served basis. Customers should note their manufacturer preference on the order form. Once we have sold out of a particular manufacturer, we will post the information to this web page and will fill orders with what is available.

Each rifle sold by CMP is an authentic U.S. Government rifle that has been inspected, headspaced, repaired if necessary and test fired for function. Each rifle is shipped with safety manual. Shipping and Handling $22.95 per rifle, $12.95 per barreled receiver.

Orders are filled on a first-come first serve basis. Rifles of all grades are packed for shipment purely by "luck of the draw". Prices are subject to change without notice. Customers will be notified before new prices are charged.
